An Important Ministry Update from Nancy Hicks

UPDATE: It’s with great sorrow that we share that Nancy’s son, David, passed away on Saturday, May 1st. We ask that you continue to lift up the whole Hicks family and respect their privacy as they grieve this unbearable loss.

Dear NHL family,

As many of you know, my family and I have been through a long and challenging journey as we walk with our beloved David through stage 4 colon cancer. From the bottom of my heart, I want to say thank you for your support of my family over these last two grueling years.

I’ve always sought to be honest and vulnerable with you through it all because I genuinely believe that we need more of it in the world. So today, I once again want to be honest with you. Even as I hold on to hope and the promises of God, I’m tired and I’m weary, so I'm stepping away from the Nancy Hicks Live ministry for a few months to be fully present with Cam, Aaron, Rachel and David. Caring for our David is my highest and most immediate calling right now.

Now, you might be wondering, stepping away, what exactly does that mean?

Though I will be stepping back, my team will not. From day one, Nancy Hicks Live has been a TEAM of individuals committed to helping women everywhere live fully alive in their faith. Even as I step back, our commitment to serving this community has not diminished one bit. In fact, as I walk this season of suffering, it’s increased all the more.

You'll continue to see helpful resources from our team on Facebook, Instagram, and in email—exciting things like new episodes from our podcast, encouraging verses to strengthen you from week to week, practical self-paced courses and studies to ignite your faith, devotionals to guide your spiritual growth and more. From time to time, you'll still see me online. As I have the desire and time to share, I’ll update you all on how the entire Hicks family is doing and what I’m reading, praying and learning to strengthen my own faith during this time. I’ll be signing my name to those notes and posts so you know it's me personally.

I cannot tell you enough how grateful I am for the team of women around me who are stepping up more than ever to allow me this much-needed space. I hope as you read this, you think about your own "team" and community. And if you don't have one, I encourage you to start building your team. The team that will support you through thick and thin. In valleys and on mountain tops. We all so desperately need one. And never forget that this community is YOUR place as much as it is mine.

Thank you for your love, prayers, and encouragement.

In love and hope in Christ Jesus,
Nancy
