Cast Your Anxieties on Him
“Cast all your anxiety on Him because he cares for you." 1 Peter 5:7
You need a warm cup of chamomile tea, a cushy-soft blanket and a pillow. You need a hug. A long, slow, “atta girl, atta boy” hug. We’ve come through a lot this last year.
Now don’t get all strong and independent on me. The strongest people, the sharpest minds and hardest workers – who are healthy in body, mind and soul - take time to assess the damage. To reflect on and mindfully address what they discover when they’ve come through a season like we’ve had. Where does it hurt? What damage has been done? How are you doing, really?
I, and every. single. person in the world I’ve had any interaction with over 2020, have relatively the same acknowledgment: we’ve come through a lot. Let’s start 2021 with some necessary care for your body, mind and soul. Cam and I’ve had to do exactly what I’m suggesting here for you:
So, where does it hurt? Can you perceive damage done to you this last year?
Is your mind still filled with, “what ifs” or “I’ll never understand…” or “are you kidding me?!” Regret, loss, fear about the future….
Let’s start here:
-
Sit and quietly think about those questions. I suggest journaling - writing out your heart and head, like a prayer.
-
Let the tears come and don’t interfere with the flow. Many of us are just raw. Tell God who cares deeply for you, where it still hurts.
"Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." 1 Peter 5:7
Get it out, dear friend. You don’t want to run on a sprain. You can’t leap when your leg’s broken. And you don’t want pain to fester then come out sideways all over other people. Dump it all on the One who can shoulder the heaviness and bind up your wounds.
He cares for you. God cares deeply for you.
I’m real because God is so real
