You Need to Focus

Heading to my first day of seminary, I remember I had a meltdown in my driveway. It felt like the first day of kindergarten again. I paused, sitting in my car.

“Lord, I’m scared. I haven’t been to school in twenty years. What if I can’t do this?”

In my spirit, I sensed God: Honey, what do you do best?

“Communication,” I whispered.

And what do you most want to communicate?

“You. I want to help people know and love and follow you.”

Stay focused was the Fatherly advice I sensed God gave me at that moment. And that advice has been gold to me ever since.

Stay focused when everyone is giving their opinion.

Stay focused when you feel utterly overwhelmed.

Stay focused when things don’t turn out as you’d hoped.

Stay focused when you discover what it actually takes to get out there in this hostile, divided, antagonistic world.

Stay focused when you fail.

Get up - dizzy, ears ringing - and refocus once more.

The last couple of years gave our ministry team even more clarity. Our focus has always been women. But data is now confirming women are finding traditional church increasingly damaging. And this damage has built up in womenfor years.

But for now, are you that woman who’s felt repeatedly frustrated, overlooked, unheard? Are you tired of people who say they’re Christians making life harder for you to experience Christ?

If you’re done with the hypocrisy and the abuse, know that we are, too.

If you are that woman or know that woman, NancyHicksLive will be a place to explore, be honest, rediscover and refocus on the boundless love of God.

Ask God again: Where are you asking me to stay focused?

I’m real because God is so real.
